Gary Matthews Scholarship Award

Gary Matthews 1946-2007
The Gary Matthews Scholarship Award was established by Lambton Financial Credit Union in partnership with Janis Matthews and family to honour the memory of Gary Matthews. Gary was a Board Member and former Chairman of Lambton Financial Credit Union. This award was established to recognize and celebrate his work ethic, commitment to his community and his unwavering support of credit union principles.
Award - $1000
Eligibility - Any student who attended Petrolia LCCVI High School and has been accepted and enrolled, full-time, in a program at an accredited college or university in Canada leading to a diploma or degree.
Application - All applications must include a completed application form and will be evaluated on a compilation of; an essay submission, community involvement, references and grades.
A Scholarship Review Committee will score the essays based on the following criteria;

A brief essay (maximum 1000 words) on the topic of “ How to avoid financial pitfalls while completing a post-secondary education ”
- your extra curricular activities and
- your contributions to the local community.

Deadline - Essays are to be received no later than 5:00 pm on May 31st of each year and submissions received after the deadline will not be considered.
Notification - All applicants will be informed of the Scholarship Review Committee's decision.
Administration - The Gary Matthews Scholarship Award Program is administered by the Lambton Financial Credit Union.
Consent – Applicants who receive the award will also be required to submit or have a digital image of them captured by authorized Lambton Financial staff for use on Lambton Financial’s website and newsletters along with their name.
