Position: Branch/Sales Manager
Reports to: Manager of Branch Operations
Job Summary:
Under the guidance of the Manager of Branch Operations, the Branch/Sales Manager will manage the overall operations of multiple branches. The incumbent will lead the branch sales team, coach and train branch staff; maintain discretionary lending limits for both personal and agricultural markets, being fully conversant in all aspects of agricultural lending; manage the development of the investment/deposit and loan portfolios, developing and meeting aggressive growth targets; implement marketing plans for product and service promotion; and analyze financial statements and producebranchreports. The Branch/Sales Manager must be willing to work anywhere in rural Lambton County.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Will initiate action to improve growth and development of the branch loan and deposit portfolios; identify the needs of the member and enhance the member experience by providing recommendations and/or alternate solutions to meet or exceed the member’s current and future needs; obtain new business by establishing and maintaining liaisons with business community contacts; provide recommendations regarding sources of new income to the credit union and changes to credit union products and services to enhance the member experience; set short and long term branch goals and objectives.
Will market services and products by implementing plans to increase member awareness and branch profitability; ensure staff are kept up to date and well informed on products and services and in all aspects of relationship building and service standards.
Will manage the overall branch operation including growth in both the deposit and loan portfolios and funds under administration, directs the utilization of staff, equipment and facilities to ensure member satisfaction and services offered are maintained at a high level, and to promote adherence to established policies and procedures; control expenses through the application of internal checks and balances, develop yearly capital and operating budget and make budget presentations to senior management.
Will manage directly and indirectly all branch staff which may include subordinate managers; promote sales and service excellence, motivation and enthusiasm, product knowledge and professionalism; adhere to performance standards; coach staff to identify the needs of the member to meet or exceed current and future needs by promoting the credit union products and services; conduct staff meetings and monitors all branch activities to ensure awareness of operational problems and successes.
In consultation with the Human Resources Manager; approve the hiring of new staff; implement training and development programs; identify opportunities for staff growth and succession planning; manage all areas of performance.
Will review and analyze financial statements and credit files on a regular basis; prepare and submit branch reports.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience and Qualifications
- Post Secondary education, or equivalent work experience, in a related field
- 5 plus years experience working in financial services (including credit management)
- Extraordinary leadership ability with solid training and coaching experience
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships, enthusiastic approach to business with strong business acumen
- Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills
- Sound judgment skills, including ability to prioritize workload
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency with computers (MS Office – Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Previous sales management experience would be an asset
