Member’s FAQ’s
Huron Blvd. Relocation

Q.           Why are you closing this branch?
A.            As I am sure you are aware the traffic levels in this location have been declining for several years.  Our site at London Road has been expanding and through our research and discussions with Members, employees, management and your Board of Directors, we believe that more of our Members can be better served by locating a branch in a more vibrant area of Sarnia. This location has significant residential and commercial activity and will offer much greater opportunities in the future.

Q.           Which branch will be my home branch?
A.            This choice is up to you. We will be working with our Members throughout this process to help them understand their options. As the details of the move become clearer we will start this process.

Q.           What about the historic value of this site, it was where it all began.

A.            We do recognize the historic significance of this site but more specifically of the people who made this credit union what it is today. Many of the original companies have changed and over the years relationships with these companies have evolved. At our new site we are planning to recognize our roots and the people who have made us successful.

Q.           Is this branch going to be like London Road?
A.            At this point we are not sure. We are in the process of hiring an architect and project manager and will then be completing a needs analysis. Once this is complete we will be working with all areas of our staff to discuss issues around functionality and business development. Our goal is to develop something that is unique and represents our vision, mission and values.  We take great pride in the facilities that we provide for our Members and this new location will be no exception to that. While many key aspects of our brand will be the same from branch to branch, this is an opportunity to provide a unique experience for our members. Our focus for this branch is to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere that is efficient and provides a variety of services. We are working on a plan to segregate our personal and commercial services to better improve both experiences. Some of the technological advances that have been used at the London Road branch will be brought over to the new site.

Q.           Will there be a drive through ATM?

A.            This is certainly something we are considering and may be dictated by the design of the building and space available.

Q.           Will the new location be a “green” build?

A.            We will be seeking “green” solutions with our project architect and will be evaluating which options can be incorporated into the branch.

Q.           Is the relocation going to result in any job loss?
A.            No, the credit union will be expanding its service offerings at the new branch and will be looking at expanding the hours that we are available to our Members and to provide new services such as commercial and wealth management area.

Q.           When will Huron Blvd be closing?
A.            The estimated date for closure is next fall.

Q.           When will the new branch be opening?
A.            We are expecting the branch will be open in fall of 2011.  We will not close the Huron Blvd. location before the new branch is open to serve our Members.

Q.           When the branch closes, how will the Members be served?  Will we be leaving an ATM here?
A.            We are developing a transition plan and anticipate that the ATM and night depository services at this location will continue for a few months after the closure.  The future options for our Members will be the new facility on Exmouth Street, London Road, online banking, telephone banking, cash access through any ATM and of course point of sale transactions.  We will be providing a map of Exchange Network ATM’s that our Members can use free of charge, which includes an ATM in Corunna. If you live in Petrolia you also have the option of our Brigden branch available to you.

Q.           What will the hours of the new branch be?
A.            The hours of operation have not been determined but we will be complementing our existing hours of operation at London Road to provide enhanced accessibility.

Q.           How will I know what is going on and who do I contact if I have a problem?
A.            We are committed to ensuring our members are informed throughout this transition.  For example we will be communicating through our Newsletter, LCD screens, and a variety of printed material. If you have any questions regarding the transition, or your account, we encourage you to contact your branch representative.

Q.           Will the new branch offer commercial services or will everyone need to go to other branches?

A.            We will be offering Commercial services at the new branch and are currently creating strategies to enhance the level of service we can offer.

Q.           Will local trades or Members be able to bid / tender on the construction?

A.            We will be hiring a project manager to manage the construction and hiring of the trades.  We will be instructing the project manager that in addition to the normal considerations when hiring the trades and the tender process, (I.e. bonding, experience, capacity, pricing ), consideration should also be given as to whether the individual or company is a Member of Lambton Financial Credit Union and whether they are located in Lambton County.
